This paperwork has many titles, which include Socket Patch Sheet, LX Patch Sheet, Circuit Patch Sheet, Channel Hookup and layouts
This Socket Patch Sheet was drawn up for Mount Lawley SHS Tricycle Theatre, which has a mixture of conventional and LED lighting.

An example of a Patch Panel is shown below. The sockets are numbered 1 to 80, with the circuit number on each individual patch lead.

There is a note on the bottom of the sheet that circuits 1 to 20 are not wired out.

The Desk Channels are usually allocated on the Lighting Plan. The Patch Sheet is filled in using details from the Desk Channel and Dimmer Channel details, then the Patch Sheet is taken to the Dimmer Room so the patching can be done.

If there are a lot of changes to Dimmer Channels patching, it is easier for dressing the patch leads, to unplug them and repatch.

In the Tricycle Theatre, the LED Non Dim Power is left the same, as it is patched to the centre socket of each lighting bar, due to a limit of ten sockets on each lighting bar.

Two metre piggyback extension leads are used to reticulate Non Dim Power out to either end of the lighting bar, so the piggy back Powercon leads for the LED fixtures can be plugged into the ends of these extension leads. The non switched power point on the lighting bar have red electrical tape around their edges to make them easily identifiable and a NON DIM LED POWER sticker is put next to the power point.

This patch sheet is not usually a 1:1 patch as shown in this example as there is a mixed Conventional and LED rig.

Desk Channels 1 to 6 will patch to Dimmer Channels 1 to 6 as they are conventional profile lights on FOH2 Lx Bar.
Desk Channels 7 to 12 will patch to the next consecutive Dimmer Channels 7 to 12, as they are Conventional Lights, 1Kw Fresnel’s on FOH1.
Desk Channel 13 to 18 are LED lights on LX Bar 1, so they will have Non Dim Power supplied to them instead if Dimmer Channels.
Desk Channels 19 to 24 are Conventional lights, so they will patch to the next consecutive Dimmer Channels of 13 to 18.

The Non Dim Power Sockets need to be put on the Patch Sheet.

A copy of these patch sheets should be part of the Lighting Design paperwork kept at the lighting desk and a copy put on the wall next to the Patch Panel.
