What is the correct way to turn on and off my theatre conventional lighting ?

You should be starting with everything off so you do not overload any equipment.

To Turn on your stage lighting:
Make sure the master faders are fully down at zero.
Switch on the lighting desk.
Switch on the dimmer racks.
You can now bring up channels or scenes.
If you switch on the dimmer racks first, there is the chance that a power surge can occur in some dimmer racks.
If you switch on the desk without checking that the faders are at zero, there is the chance that a power surge can occur in some dimmer racks.

To turn OFF your stage lighting:
Turn the master faders down to zero so there is no current flowing through the dimmer channels.
Switch off the dimmer racks.
Switch off the lighting desk.
If you switch off the desk first, there is the chance that a power surge can occur in some dimmer racks.
